From 8 to 11 September 2025, the student body of the Institute of International Relations and Defence of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IRID-UFRJ) promoted the 13th edition of the Academic Week of Defence and International Strategic Management. Held at the University’s Fundão campus, with part of the programme offered at the Technology Centre (CT-UFRJ) and part at the Centre for Mathematica and Natural Sciences (CCMN-UFRJ), the event featured eight discussion panels dedicated to the theme Strategic Connections: Society, Culture and Power.

On the second day of the Week, 9 September, LABMUNDO coordinator Prof. Rubens de S. Duarte participated in the panel Net Activism: Agent of Political Transformation, alongside Katlen Firmino (JPS-Rio), moderated by Ana Paula Rodrigues (IRID-UFRJ). The following day, 10 September, our researcher Danielle Costa da Silva moderated the conference Sustainability, Decentralisation and International Relations, given by Anuska Soares, from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS Brasil).

Organised by students from the International Defence and Strategic Management course at UFRJ, SDGEI aims to promote discussions on issues that are extremely important for students and teachers in the field, as well as for civil society, academic, military and private sectors, promoting integration between the university and the segment of society interested in issues related to Security and Defence, Foreign Policy, Science and Technology, among others.
