On 11 May, LABMUNDO is joining forces with OIMC to welcome Prof. Licínia Simão (University of Coimbra) to our headquarters at the Institute of Social and Political Studies, where she will deliver a lecture entitled ‘Ocean Regions and the Ocean Research Agenda in International Relations’.

LABMUNDO participation in the ‘Echoes of Bandung’ seminar at UERJ

On 24 and 25 March, the Laboratory helped organise the thematic seminar ‘Echoes of Bandung’, in partnership with the Laboratory for Decolonial Debates and Practices at UFRJ, Lemcri/UERJ, LabÁsia/UERJ and Nexus/UFRJ.

Climate Emergency and Defence Seminar, a partnership between LABMUNDO, OIMC and PPGCM/ECEME

In late 2025, LABMUNDO organised the Climate Emergency and Defence International Seminar: COP 30 and its implications for the Armed Forces, in partnership with the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change and the Graduate Programme in Military Sciences at the Army Command and General Staff College.

IESP-UERJ has published the list of winning entries for its 2026 Thesis and Dissertation Award, and LABMUNDO is among the year’s best academic works.

Last month, on 24 November, the LABMUNDO Rio de Janeiro Antenna proudly welcomed internationalist Rita Floyd to IESP-UERJ to present her latest research on securitisation at our 2025 closing plenary session.

LABMUNDO at COP30 in Brazil

Between 10 and 21 November, Brazil hosted the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference, held in Belém (PA). Amidst an intense schedule of official and parallel events, LABMUNDO participated in some activities, offering its contribution to the debate on the ongoing multilateral negotiations and the global climate emergency outlook.
