LABMUNDO contributes to Cadernos Adenauer special on G20 in Brazil

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS Brasil) has published the second volume of 2024 in its Cadernos Adenauer publication series, dedicated to the G20 meeting in Brazil, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro in November 2024. The collection brings together texts whose themes have been selected to offer an overview of the event, emphasising the high relevance of its being held on Brazilian soil.

Among its ten chapters, the issue features two articles by LABMUNDO researchers. In the text The African agenda in the G20 and the challenges of African Union adherence, labmundan Murilo Gomes da Costa analyses the historical place occupied by the African continent in the Group’s agenda to propose a preliminary discussion of the challenges and opportunities that the African Union (AU) will face when it occupies a permanent space in this global forum. Our coordinator, Prof. Rubens de S. Duarte, contributes with Crisis of multilateral institutions, armed conflicts and the rise of polarisations: the Brazilian perspective on the international situation and its impact on the G20 summit, an article discussing the Brazilian perspective on the meeting and its role in the face of adverse domestic and international contexts.

Aiming to help disseminate information and broaden public debate on issues of national and international importance, Cadernos Adenauer publishes articles covering a variety of subjects in the fields of politics, the social situation, economics, international relations and law. Among the other topics featured in this volume are texts on the fight against hunger and poverty, the sustainable development agenda and tackling climate change, the Finance Trail and the Sherpas Trail, the challenges and opportunities facing the host city of the G20 summit and expectations about the possible results that could be achieved at the end of the summit.
