The researcher Henrique Rabello de Carvalho presented, in May 2023, the lecture The rise of the far right in Brazil: Impacts on democracy, human rights and climate change to the Department of Political Science of Stellenbosch University (South Africa).
In his lecture, the PhD candidate in Political Science at IESP-UERJ analysed the growth of the far right in Brazil, considering this movement in a transnational way, following the example of countries such as the United States, Poland and Hungary. The analysis was dedicated to recent events that have marked the process in the country and its impacts on agendas such as human rights and climate change, from the identification of key actors, with emphasis on domestic and foreign policy in the Bolsonaro government.
