On November 20th and 21st, LABMUNDO coordinator Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani participated in the colloquium Ocean Regions in an Era of Global Transformation“, organized by Prof. Maxi Shoeman at the University of Pretoria (South Africa).

For two days, researchers, diplomats and Navy staff discussed how to formulate public policies that consider the oceans in their different dimensions: the oceans as a blue economy that drives social and economic benefits, the oceans as spaces for projecting power for States and corporations transnational and, finally, the oceans as a subsystem of planet Earth that is therefore part of the current debates on the Anthropocene and anthropogenic climate change.
