Webinary – COVID-19: Geopolitics of Vaccines
- 14/06/2021

Labmundo, in partnership with Rede Co-Vida/Fiocruz, promotes debate on the Geopolitics of Vaccines, a theme of unquestionable global centrality in the face of the current sanitary crisis. The debate is articulated around the following issues:
- The distribution and inoculation of vaccines against Covid-19 has exposed a serious human rights problem: according to the WHO, 75% of the doses of immunizing agents are concentrated in only 10 countries, and the amount produced so far would have been enough to have vaccinated all of them the elderly and health professionals in the world, the two categories that died the most in the pandemic.
- In this scenario, the pressure to break patents as a solution to this problem in the long term has increased, as well as questions about the role of the WHO and the Covax/Facility mechanism in reducing these inequalities, which aims to ensure a more equal distribution of vaccines in the world.
The World Policy Analysis Laboratory/Labmundo and CoVida Network/Fiocruz invite experts to debate these issues on June 17, at 4 pm, in the webinar “Covid-19: geopolitics of vaccines”. The transmission will be carried out through the Cidacs/Fiocruz channel on YouTube.
