LABMUNDO present at ISA 2024, in San Francisco

Between 3 and 6 April 2024, the International Studies Association (ISA) held its annual convention in San Francisco (USA), and LABMUNDO was present at the evento represented by three of its researchers. The panel Brazilian Foreign Policy: Domestic and International Issues, presented last Friday, 5 April, included the participation of the Laboratory’s researcher, Hugo Bras Martins da Costa (IMM-ECEME), presenting his article Brazilian peacekeeping policy at the United Nations Security Council, and our coordinators, Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani and Prof. Rubens de S. Duarte, who together presented the article Multilateralism Confronted with Antidemocratic Politics in the South: Comparing Brazil under Bolsonaro and Turkey under Erdogan.

Prof Duarte also presented his article Climate Change and Brazilian Defence Documents on the panel National Security, Armed Forces, and Climate Change, on the opening day of the convention. On the same day, Hugo Bras coordinated the New Perspectives on United Nations Peacekeeping Operations discussion. Carlos Milani also took part in the meeting of the editorial board of the International Studies Review (ISR), as a permanent member of the committee. Professors Duarte and Milani also took the opportunity to meet with publishers regarding the publication, in 2025, of Antidemocratic Politics, Ultraconservative Values and Foreign Policy in Brazil, the next LABMUNDO book to be published in English.
